The Honey Moon-a-versary

Our anniversary was on a Wednesday this year, and rather than waiting to celebrate on the weekend, Hailame and I splurged a little and decided to take the day of our anniversary off and spend the day together.

One thing that Hailame is very good at is listening for the little things that I say, and when I completely forget about them, he surprises me.

While we were engaged, I mentioned that I always wanted to stay in a hotel room that had a gigantic Jacuzzi in the main room, not the bathroom area.

I didn’t really think anything of it past that small mention, but he took the time before our wedding looking for a hotel room that had a gigantic Jacuzzi in the main area of the hotel room.

It was the most wonderful surprise walking into our hotel room the first night as a married couple!  The Jacuzzi was gigantic and beautiful!

On the night before our Anniversary, Hailame told me not to make dinner, and to grab a change of clothes because we were going out for dinner and staying in a surprise hotel room.  He wouldn’t say where, but he said I would love it!

When we were on our way to the hotel, he said that he didn’t realize the location of the hotel until after paying for the room… only to find out we were about 3 blocks away from our house! Haha!

I didn’t even mind, staying in a hotel room is always fun no matter how close or far from your home!

We pulled into the Best Western Coral Hill, and sure enough he reserved the Honey Moon Suite, and this time the Jacuzzi was heart shaped!

It was most the most wonderful room I had ever seen!  We had such a good time relaxing in that room.  We had our own private balcony and spent a good hour sitting out there enjoying the beautiful fall evening and laughing that could almost see our home 🙂

The day of anniversary was spent with no schedule, and just doing as we please.  We decided to go and spend majority of the day in Cedar City, and it was nice to get out of St. George.

We went to Deseret Industries Thrift Store (of course), watched the movie Venom (which I surprisingly really liked) and then went to a quaint restaurant for dinner just outside of Cedar called Rusty’s Ranch House.

It was the perfect day, and was one of my favorite anniversaries spent with Hailame!

Here’s to many many more!

Happy Married Life!

P.S Happy Weekend!

Enjoy some spiritual enlightenment here!

a long weekend

***FYI: This post is more like a journal entry and doesn’t have a lot to do with anything, just talking about my average everyday life with my wonderful hubby 🙂

I am thankful for long weekends that don’t include obligatory functions, traveling, coming back to real life exhausted due to a busy weekend.

Hannah only portion of the long weekend:

I was lucky to have one of those weekends where I was able to really relax.

Hailame had to go up to Salt Lake City to attend a family wedding (oldest Tongan son traditions), and I didn’t want to take off work so I could attend another family function this coming weekend, so on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday it was just me at the house.

Thursday evening was a Girl Night.  I went and got a much needed pedicure with one of my good friends, Tiffany.  We had been talking about this for weeks, and I’m so glad we finally made it happen.. we even did a little karaoke while getting our toes painted and after we went and got snow cones and had some much needed girl talk!

Friday night I stayed in and watched Downton Abbey, started a 1,000 piece puzzle, and fell asleep on the couch. Bliss…

Saturday, I woke up around 8:00 am and cleaned the house!  It was wonderful!

I was able to de-clutter, reorganize, vacuum, dust, scrub and do ALL of my laundry and not have one dirty clothing item anywhere (which was short lived once Hailame came home Saturday evening…)!

I took a giant load of unwanted items to Deseret Industries Thrift Store (and didn’t even go inside to buy more stuff!), I attempted to work on some unfinished sewing projects… but didn’t get too far since my sewing machine was acting ridiculous and wouldn’t let me thread it!.. moving on.

I was in such a cleaning groove, I even vacuumed my car, shampooed the seats, wiped down the whole interior, and blew all the leaves/dead cockroaches out of the car port–> super stressful, by the way, making sure they didn’t blow on top of me, or didn’t step on them!

I felt so accomplished, and I finished all these projects by 3:00 pm giving me time to make dinner (Chicken Cordon Bleu casserole with veggies!) and work on the puzzle some more and watch more of Downton Abbey before Hailame came home at 6:30 pm.

Hailame and Hannah portion of the weekend:

Saturday evening we went to our friends house, the Howell’s, to play cards, watch a basketball game and eat s’mores, cookies (Crumbl Cookie has come to St. George) and ice cream.  At 10:00 pm the Hailame and Blaine decided to watch “The Sixth Sense” which I promptly slept through, and after the movie Hailame and Blaine played cards for another hour while Kelsey and I were knocked out on the couch.  We didn’t go home until 1:30 am.

Sunday after church, we went back to the Howells for dinner and games (staying pretty late knowing we didn’t have to go to work on Monday!  Wahoo!)

Monday was a good day, an extremely good day.

We slept in, no I slept in and Hailame went fishing with Blaine and Hunter (Blaine’s son).  I woke up around 9:00 am and made some breakfast and turned on Gilmore Girls and worked on the puzzle until Hailame got home.

We lounged around the house for a bit then went swimming.  The pool was cold and then cloudy weather didn’t help, but it was our first swim of the season and it was wonderful!  After swimming, we came home and took a nap for a couple of hours before eating some dinner and playing pickleball with some of our friends, the Gorringes, where Hailame broke one of our paddles during the first game.  🙂

Pickle Ball

This was a much needed weekend, and I wished it wouldn’t end.  Spending all day with Hailame is my favorite thing to do, even if we are just lounging around the house.

Next paid holiday, my favorite holiday, Independence Day!…. Only 35 days away!

Expanding our Horizons Date #1

On Friday, Hailame and I painted the town red!  And by painting the town red, I mean we ate a fabulous dinner (splurging a little a lot) and watched the finale of This Is Us… which I cried through.  Needless to say it was a perfect date night in our little St. George, Utah.

Recently we realized after living in St. George for almost 4 years that we have the same set of 4 places that we like to eat at for date nights….Village Inn, Pasta Factory, Crackel Barrel, and Panda Express.  You can never go wrong eating at these places, and we’ve also learned to always order ahead at Panda, because they are packed ALL THE TIME!!

However, something I love about St. George is that small quaint restaurants you can find around town that aren’t the regular franchises you see everywhere.  So we’ve made it a goal to expand our horizons and try different spots around town.

So… Expanding our Horizons Date #1: Cappelettis

Cappelettis is in the heart of Historic St. George, and the food there is delicious!

Our menu for the evening consisted of:

Empenadas…the most gourmet hot pocket we’ve ever had!

Calamari…which Hyrum did not like at all…. I didn’t even try it because I’m not a seafood fan, and apparently he is not a calamari fan as well.

**Calamari Side Story:  So when Hyrum had the waiter take the Calamari untouched, he just mentioned that it wasn’t something he liked after all.  He wasn’t rude about just said no thanks, and we are happy to still pay for it.  Well the waiter went to the back and told everyone some guy didn’t like the Calamari and one by one each Chef came out to see who the crazy guy was who sent back their prized Calamari!

Main Dish:

Hannah: Gorgonzola Chicken with Whole Wheat Pasta!

**If you know me, you know I love cheese, and this was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had!  It was wonderful!

Hyrum: Pork Chops with Mashed Potatoes and Veggies

**Hyrum was in awe of the thickness of the Pork Chop.  Most chops that he’s had have been super thin and this chop had some good thickness to it!

Dessert…I told you, we decided to go all out!:

Hannah: Creme Brulee…Yes, it was so good!

Hyrum: Flour-less Chocolate Cake (More like a big slice of fudge!)

Much to our surprise, this place was more affordable than what we’ve spent at Olive Garden, and we enjoyed this place much more.

Cappelettis reminded me of the restaurant, O’Reilly’s” in the movie “Return to Me.”  Such a good movie.  They don’t make movies like that anymore… Now I want to go watch it.

Our evening ended in tears (only me…with Hailame making fun of me) with This is Us, and of course they left the final episode with loads of cliff hangers driving you crazy, knowing you have to wait until the Fall to watch it again.  TV Shows are messed up… but I love This is Us… I can’t help it!

Happy beginning of the new week… looking forward to the weekend already….
